Incoming 9th graders and current students can get their sports physical for next year and register on Sportsnet. Most fall sports begin the week July 29.

THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN (BY RON STAPP) - The list of Liberty's heroes is about as long as the Patriots' baseball team’s roster. An incredible cast of characters, all fusing together as one as part of an unbelievable run of 20-straight victories that featured a South Yosemite River League title, the program’s first Central Section crown and culminated with a Southern California Regional Division-II championship on Saturday evening.

Head Counselor Mrs. Davis is retiring as one of the original Liberty staff members who opened the school in 1999. Also, Mr. Tim Davis is stepping down from being the Athletic Director after 20 years on the job but will continue to teach. Mrs. Watkins retires after 20 years in Kern High; finishing her career as the Liberty School Psychologist. Finally, Mrs. Watson, teacher and Spirit Team coach embarks on a new adventure. Liberty had four teams that placed first in the Physics Olympics competition among Kern High School District students at Bakersfield College Friday, May 3. Each team competed in three events including pre-construction events, calculation events and in a category called “other events,” which included a variety of building projects. The LHS students were all from Honors and College Prep Physics classes.

Congratulations to the following Liberty artists for having work submitted and displayed at the KHSD Art Showcase held at the Bakersfield Museum of Art: Vanessa Hernandez (1st Place – Best Drawing), Daniel Meares (3rd Place – Best Digital), Ashley White, Promessa Chaparro, Lauren Williams, Scarlett Doyle, Maggie Solis.

Mr. Jose Castro was honored at the Kern County Superintendent of School’s Education Champions Dinner. Mr. Castro is an original staff member at Liberty High School, celebrating his 30th year as a passionate and dedicated math teacher, including 23 years teaching AP Calculus with exceptional results. His engaging and rigorous classes have empowered and prepared hundreds of students to excel in college-level math, with 98% passing the AP exam and 73% earning the top score of "5," a testament to his unwavering commitment to math education.

Congratulations to Elijah Lidgett, Kyle Palla, and Aris Gomez for winning PEAAK Awards! Competing against other nominees from the Kern High School District, they won awards for Most Inspirational and Best Editing in Film.

Congratulations to Bella Turner for earning two medals in the CIF State track meet on Saturday! Bella finished 3rd place in the 100 hurdles and 5th place in the 300 hurdles.
