Liberty Launches Inaugural Virtual Enterprise Class for 2026–2027

Students in the program are responsible for developing a business concept, marketing products or services, managing finances, and creating company policies. They will also participate in trade shows and competitions within a simulated economy, competing alongside schools from across the nation.

Admission into the course is highly competitive. Interested students must complete an application, interview with teacher/advisor Mr. Robert Rios and advisory member Mr. Taylor, and deliver an “About Me” presentation demonstrating their communication and presentation abilities.

Mr. Rios shared that he is excited to bring the Virtual Enterprise program to Liberty and looks forward to helping students develop leadership, professionalism, and entrepreneurial skills that will prepare them for future success.

On Wednesday, May 6, Liberty hosted a VE Meet-and-Greet event where students had the opportunity to connect with future classmates before gathering at the outdoor stage for the highly anticipated announcement of the company’s executive leadership team.

Principal Leandrea Slayton introduced Maren Seals as the first-ever CEO of Liberty Virtual Enterprise, marking a historic moment for the program.

Congratulations to Liberty VE’s inaugural student executive leadership team:

  • Maren Seals – Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
  • Brooke Porter – Chief Operating Officer (COO)
  • Adrian Aldrete – Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

“I’m excited to be part of something new and help build a strong team,” shared Adrian Aldrete following the announcement.

Principal Slayton shared that one of her goals upon being appointed principal at Liberty was to bring many of the incredible programs she observed at other sites during her three and a half years away from Liberty.

“Every student deserves every opportunity to have enriching experiences, to find a community where they can thrive, and to have opportunities to compete and excel at the local, state, and national level,” said Slayton.

Principal Slayton also expressed appreciation for Honors Economics teacher Mrs. Laurel Phillips, whose classes have provided Liberty students with authentic business and project-based learning experiences for many years through the development, production, marketing, and sale of student-created products.

“These students have already had incredible opportunities through Mrs. Phillips’ program to engage in meaningful, hands-on learning, and that program will absolutely continue,” Slayton shared. “Virtual Enterprise simply expands opportunities for students to compete and grow in new ways. There is room for both, and I am incredibly thankful to both Mr. Rios and Mrs. Phillips for their dedication to our students and the experiences they provide.”

In addition to executive leadership positions, many students will serve in critical behind-the-scenes roles including graphic design, web design, photography, videography, marketing, sales, and social media management. Each position plays an essential role in building a strong and successful company culture.

Liberty High looks forward to seeing this inaugural class pave the way for future students while building a program that promotes innovation, professionalism, collaboration, and school pride.
