The team recently wrapped up their final six-dive meet of the season against Stockdale and continues to build momentum. At the area competition this past Friday, Liberty divers turned in strong performances. In the girls one-meter event, Genevieve Payette placed 5th with a score of 278.15, while Averie Kline followed closely in 6th with a score of 222.65. On the boys side, Corbin Turner had an outstanding showing, finishing 2nd with a score of 188.25. These results reflect the steady progress and competitive edge the team has developed throughout the season.
Behind the scenes, the work is constant. Divers practice daily, splitting time between McMurtrey Aquatic Center and the Kern High Aquatic Center, showing the kind of commitment that often goes unnoticed. Yet, it’s in those daily reps, refining technique, building courage, and supporting one another, where the team truly supports and celebrates one another.
When asked about their experience this season, athletes described it as “probably one of the fastest dive seasons” and “a fun, competitive sport with a great community.” That sense of community is at the heart of the program, making it not only a place to compete, but a place to belong.
Looking ahead, the team is eager to grow. No experience? No problem. Liberty’s divers and coaches are ready to welcome new athletes and teach the fundamentals to anyone willing to take the leap.
If you’re looking to support a hardworking group of student-athletes or are interested in trying something new, keep an eye out for Liberty diving and consider joining them next season. You can also follow their journey on Instagram and cheer them on as they continue to represent Liberty with pride.
