The meet opened with electric performances in the 4x100-meter relays. Liberty’s girls team wasted no time making a statement, posting the #1 time in their section while breaking the school record by a full second. Not to be outdone, the boys followed with the #3 time in the section, narrowly missing their own school record by just one-tenth of a second. The momentum from these early races carried throughout the day.
One of the most remarkable performances came from Maddie Porter, who etched her name into Kern County history. Porter cleared 12’6” in the pole vault, breaking the county record and moving to #2 in the state rankings. She also showcased her versatility in the triple jump, reaching 38 feet and placing herself among the top competitors in the valley.
Junior Allison Sons had a breakout performance, setting a new school record in the 100 meters with a blazing 12.1 and capturing first place in the long jump. On the boys side, Carter Hanson sprinted to a 10.7 finish in the 100 meters, earning the #3 all-time mark in Liberty history.
In the 400 meters, Syris Hill delivered a strong performance, taking the win with an impressive 49.5. Freshman Ally Bennett turned heads in the distance events, running a 4:57 mile—an outstanding mark that ranks her #2 in the valley.
Distance standout Sal Quezada dominated the boys distance races, claiming victories in both the 1600 meters and 3200 meters. His commanding performances highlighted Liberty’s depth and strength in endurance events.
The meet concluded with another highlight as Zane Turner soared to victory in the long jump with a leap of 22’7”, capping off a memorable day for the Patriots.
From sprints to distance, jumps to relays, Liberty athletes showcased their talent, determination, and competitive spirit. With team victories on both the boys and girls sides, the Patriot Games proved to be a resounding success for Liberty High School, both as host and as champion.
