The Best. Day. Ever. is coming!

For the past ten years, Coach Chris Campoy has been a steady and inspiring presence in the Liberty High School tennis program. Through his dedication to the sport and to the many student athletes he has mentored, Coach Campoy has helped shape the Liberty tennis program into a place where hard work, sportsmanship, and a love for the game thrive.

Service and literacy came together in a meaningful way this past Thursday as members of Liberty High School’s Just Serve Club visited Almondale Elementary to read with younger students. A total of 18 Liberty students participated in the visit, spending time sharing stories and spreading their love for reading with the elementary classrooms.
The experience was made possible through the leadership of club advisor Mrs. Michelle Lord, who consistently creates opportunities for Just Serve students to connect with the community. Through these experiences, students not only give back but also grow in their understanding of service, civic responsibility, and the power of small acts to make a meaningful impact.

Liberty High School celebrated the power of literacy during the 2nd annual Read Across Liberty Week, March 2–6, with a variety of engaging activities designed to spark a love of reading while also recognizing student achievement in literacy. Throughout the week, students had opportunities to listen, read, write, discuss, and celebrate books together in creative ways. The events highlighted that literacy is not only about reading, but also about writing, sharing ideas, and building community through stories.

Liberty Play-Triot Theatre continues to evolve with the launch of Cue the Chaos, our first-ever improv experience. This past Friday night marked the second month of this exciting new venture, and audiences continue to respond with enthusiasm and laughter. The growth of this program reflects the creativity and talent of our students, as well as the strong support of our community for innovative theatre experiences. In addition, Liberty Theatre is gaining attention and recognition from the community.

In an exciting milestone for our campus, Liberty High School has crowned its first Speech & Debate Valley Champion and State Qualifier in the very first season since reinstating the program. Patriot Speech & Debate competed at the Valley Congress Qualifier at Bakersfield High School on Thursday, February 26, the final stop on the road to the State Tournament, and our students delivered an outstanding performance.

This past week, Liberty students had the incredible opportunity to represent our campus at the Kern High School District Max Capacity Connection Conference. The conference brought together students from across the district to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore meaningful ways to make a greater impact on their campuses.
Liberty was proud to present on our Listening Circles initiative, sharing both the “why” and the “how” behind this powerful practice. Listening Circles create intentional space for students who may not typically interact to come together, build understanding, and truly hear one another’s perspectives. Through guided discussion, students not only share their experiences but also collaborate on the vision they want to see lived out on our campus. Our team highlighted how Listening Circles foster empathy, strengthen relationships, and build a culture rooted in respect and unity.

It has been an exciting postseason for Liberty Athletics as our student-athletes continue to compete at the highest levels and represent Patriot pride with determination and heart. Our girls soccer team lost a tough D-I semifinal game this past Thursday against Buchanan, the #1 seed at their field in the rain. However, the boys soccer team and wrestling team are still competing.

Liberty High School proudly held the inaugural meeting of its FFA Advisory Board, marking an exciting milestone for the Agriculture Education program. While establishing an advisory board is a required component of maintaining an active FFA chapter, District Agriculture Lead Clay Freeman shared that Liberty’s board is the largest in the district, a testament to the strength of our new program and the support of our community.
The purpose of the FFA Advisory Board is twofold: to build strong partnerships within the agricultural community and to ensure that what is being taught in Liberty’s classrooms is current, relevant, and aligned with industry needs. These partnerships not only help shape curriculum, but also provide students with valuable exposure to real-world careers and hands-on industry experience.

Unity Week is a newer tradition on Liberty’s campus, and year three proved that each year truly gets better and better. From cultural celebrations and interactive booths to powerful performances and student-led leadership, this week was a beautiful reminder of the strength found in our diversity.
