This past week, Liberty High School’s PLAYtriot Theatre Company took a major step forward with its first production under the direction of Mrs. Caitlin Herring, presenting the timeless classic Little Women. The nearly two-hour performance showcased not only the remarkable talent of Liberty’s students but also the renewed energy and vision shaping the future of the school’s theatre program.

The Liberty High School volleyball team has earned the #1 seed in the Southern California State Championship Division II bracket and will open with the first round at 5pm this Tuesday. This honor comes after an undefeated league season and a strong performance throughout tournament play, where the Patriots faced and competed with some of the top nationally ranked teams in the country.

The 69th Annual Teen City Government Day in Bakersfield brought together exceptional student leaders from across the city to celebrate their achievements in scholarship, leadership, and service. Hosted in partnership with the City of Bakersfield and the Kern Kiwanis Club, the event gave students an opportunity to experience local government in action while recognizing their contributions to their schools and communities.

On Tuesday, October 28, more than 100 sophomore members of the National Social Studies Honor Society gathered in Mrs. Brummer’s classroom to write heartfelt Thank You cards to local veterans in recognition of Veterans Day.

This season, Liberty High School’s Marching Pageantry has taken audiences on an inspiring journey with their powerful show, Beacons, a performance that reminds us all that when we face the storms of life, we have two choices: hide behind the rocks in fear or rise up as a beacon of light and hope for others.

This past Wednesday, Liberty High School proudly celebrated the completion of the eight-week Family Engagement Program presented by the Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE). The event marked another successful partnership between Liberty and PIQE, honoring over 20 parents who completed the program and demonstrated their commitment to supporting their students’ academic and emotional success.

After several years without a team, Liberty High School’s E-Sports program has made a triumphant return and is already making its mark in the competitive gaming world. Under the dedicated leadership of Coaches Eddie Watson and Julian Alias, Liberty’s players have revived the excitement of school E-Sports and are proudly representing the Patriots in Overwatch 2 competition.

This year, Liberty High’s Academic Decathlon team has embraced The Roaring Twenties, the official theme of the 2025–2026 season, with energy, creativity, and a passion for learning. Guided by the classic literary work The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, our Decathletes are diving headfirst into the world of jazz, art deco, innovation, and cultural transformation that defined the 1920s.

This fall, Liberty High School has proudly been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s top high schools. This national honor reflects Liberty’s excellence across multiple measures, including Advanced Placement (AP) performance, Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway completion, and college and career readiness.

The Agriculture Program at Liberty High School continues to flourish, offering students hands on opportunities to grow their skills and creativity. One shining example is the Floral Design class, a Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway and dual enrollment course that blends art, science, and agriculture. Students in the class earn both high school and college credit while learning floral design techniques, business concepts, and leadership through FFA.
