Liberty’s swim team capped off an incredible season by competing at the CIF State Championships, one of the most prestigious high school swimming events in the country. Qualifying for the state meet alone is an outstanding accomplishment, especially considering California is consistently ranked among the top three fastest states in the nation for high school swimming competition. Earning the opportunity to compete against the best swimmers in California is truly an honor and a reflection of the dedication, discipline, and countless hours of preparation our student-athletes invested throughout the season.

Liberty Track & Field delivered an outstanding performance this week at the first round of the CIF Section Championships, showcasing the hard work, dedication, and competitive spirit of our student-athletes. The meet began in exciting fashion as the boys’ 4x100 relay team of Carter Hanson, Roman Salazar, Brodie Beaulieu, and Kasen Essman broke the school record while capturing 1st place at the Division I Championship. The momentum continued throughout the meet with several dominant performances in the sprint events, helping the boys earn an impressive 4th place overall team finish. Carter Hanson also added to the strong showing by placing 3rd in the 100-meter dash.

Liberty High School recently celebrated students in the Biomedical PLTW program during the annual White Coat Ceremony, a meaningful tradition that symbolizes the beginning of their journey into the medical and biomedical field. Much like in professional healthcare settings, receiving a white coat represents commitment, responsibility, ethics, and a dedication to caring for others through science and medicine.

Liberty High School’s Swim and Dive team delivered a truly outstanding performance at the 2026 CIF Central Section Division I Championships this past weekend at Clovis West High School, earning multiple qualifications to the CIF State Championships and rewriting the school record books in the process.
Competing against the top programs in the Central Section, the Patriots rose to the occasion with breakthrough performances, deep relay success, and multiple medal finishes across both the girls and boys teams. The meet proved to be one of the most successful championship weekends in program history.

The Liberty High School Chamber Singers concluded an outstanding run of the comic opera The Mikado Saturday evening in the Liberty Performing Arts Center, bringing weeks of hard work, talent, and collaboration to a memorable close. Performed on May 1, 2, 8, and 9, the production showcased the dedication and artistry of Liberty students while continuing a one-of-a-kind tradition that sets Liberty apart on a national level.

Liberty High School is excited to officially launch its inaugural Virtual Enterprise (VE) class for the upcoming school year, creating a new opportunity for students to gain real-world business experience through hands-on learning and leadership.
Virtual Enterprise is an innovative business course where students learn by doing. Throughout the year, students collaborate to create and operate their own virtual business while developing valuable skills in leadership, marketing, finance, communication, and teamwork.

This past week, Liberty High School’s Advanced Video Production students showcased their talent and professionalism on a big stage at the Kern High Film Festival, held at the historic Fox Theater. Competing among strong programs from across the county, the Liberty High School News Team earned top honors, taking 1st Place for Best Student Produced News Show.

Liberty High School is proud to announce that Chris Barron will serve as the school’s next Athletic Director beginning in June, continuing a strong tradition of leadership and commitment to student-athletes.
As we look ahead, we also extend our sincere gratitude to outgoing Athletic Director Mark Erickson for his years of dedicated service to Liberty High School. Erickson has spent countless hours supporting our athletic programs, coaches, and, most importantly, our student-athletes. His heart for kids and his commitment to providing the best possible opportunities were evident in everything he did. His impact on Liberty athletics will be felt for years to come, and we thank him for the lasting legacy he leaves behind.

While the spotlight at swim meets often shines on the lanes, just a few feet away Liberty’s diving team is quietly putting in the same level of dedication, discipline, and pride in representing the Patriots.
Liberty’s diving program may be small in numbers, but it is big in commitment. This season, four student-athletes have taken on the challenge of one-meter springboard diving. Competing at the varsity level are Genevieve Payette, Averie Kline, and Corbin Turner, while Nathan Chavez represents Liberty on the junior varsity side. Together, they have built a tight-knit group that continues to grow in skill and confidence with each meet.
