Sixteen Liberty students placed highly with individual awards and team awards in the AP Statistics and AP Calculus competition held Wednesday night at Independence High School. Sarah Chang won the individual Calculus competition and received a $250 scholarship. In the individual competition for Statistics, Jaden Lee took second place overall and won a trophy and a $150 scholarship. For Calculus, John Cai took third overall place and $100.

The Liberty High School Theater Department will perform its spring production of Peter and the Starcatcher under newly retrofitted lighting in the Performing Arts Center at 7 p.m. May 2, 3, and 4, with a 2 p.m. Saturday matinee May 4.

The Parent Center and ASB will be hosting an Under the Stars Family Movie Night tonight Tuesday, April 30 at 7pm in the quad.

State testing continues this week with juniors taking the SBAC computer adaptive test Math on Tuesday and Thursday. All students in California take the tests in grade 3 – 8, and grade 11. Please encourage your child to do their best and get a good night’s sleep before testing. Some colleges in California decide how ready students are for college-level classes based on the their 11th grade SBAC scores. SBAC results help parents and educators determine student strengths, areas where more support is needed, and provide feedback to improve instruction.

Quarter 3 grades are now available in the Synergy ParentVUE App and reports cards should have arrived in your mailbox at the beginning of Spring Break. Parents and guardians can also ask their student to open the StudentVUE app and navigate to 3rd quarter grades. If using the ParentVUE app, click on your student, click on "Grade Book", and use the drop-down bar below your student’s photo to choose the “Quarter 3 (Ending on 3/15/24)” option.

Need to take health, PE, or retake a class this summer? The summer school request deadline is Friday, April 5. Current students interested in summer school need to submit a short google form using their school email address. Summer school consists of two 3-week sessions running from June 3rd-July 12th. All summer classes will be held in person from 7:30 AM-12 PM.

Counselors are putting in course requests for 2024-2025 through March 15th. They will meet with each student individually through their English class to choose next year’s courses, review transcript and discuss summer school options.

This year's annual Veterans Appreciation Brunch Program, organized by committees of LHS seniors with social studies department staff, was attended last Wednesday by more than 60 veterans who shared their personal stories about their time in the armed services with dozens of students.

The Liberty choirs performed two great concerts last week. One was on campus and included songs mostly in French. Two days later the Chamber Singers performed off campus accompanied by an orchestra.
