The show opened with our dance class performing a vibrant Samba that immediately set the tone for the celebration. Senior Roshni Bhavsar then took the stage with a Bollywood solo that was both courageous and graceful. Her performance was absolutely stunning. Junior Hannah Matthew and sophomore Alana Benny followed with a classical Indian dance that was elegant and breathtakingly beautiful.
The assembly concluded with two incredible guest performances from Del Oro students. One group energized the crowd with a dynamic hip hop routine, while another performed a folklórico dance that left the audience in awe. Their smiles afterward said it all. It was a celebration not only of culture, but of talent and shared community.
Principal Leandrea Slayton said, “One of the most powerful moments came quietly from the audience. I overheard two students behind me say the performances were so beautiful they were making them cry. When I shared that I felt emotional as well, they told me it isn’t often that they get to see themselves and their culture celebrated in that way. That statement captured exactly why this week matters.”
As we reflect on our PRIDE core values, I am reminded why we intentionally chose “E” to stand for Everyone. Every single person on this campus is integral to who we are and what makes Liberty great. Celebrating one another strengthens us all.
Thank you to Brooke Slayton and her students for the thoughtful planning and heart behind this week. I am excited to see Unity Week continue to grow in the years ahead as we keep honoring the cultures, voices, and stories that make our school community so special.
