Liberty students helped celebrate Read Across America and Dr. Seuss Week by going to local elementary schools to read to young students. Abraham Lopez even got a pie in the face!

Friday, March 22, is a two-hour early out. However, since the lunch period is at the end of the day, students will be released from campus at 12:48pm, at the end of 7th period. The cafeteria will serve a free lunch during the lunch period from 12:48 – 1:15. To align with all district schools who are also on a two-hour early out, school busses will leave around 1:20pm.

The Just Serve Club met at lunch recently to make fleece caps for children undergoing cancer treatment.

Liberty celebrated its first Unity Week Feb. 20-23 with a cultural fashion show, dance performance, a food sale and cultural activity booths in the quad. One of our PRIDE core values is “Everyone.” Everyone is an integral part of our campus community. Everyone matters and Unity Week helped us celebrate all students.

Our esteemed Chamber Singers will present a very special free concert tonight, Thursday, March 14, at St. Francis Catholic Church. This hard-working group will be performing an extended work by W.A. Mozart with a professional orchestra.

Author and former educator, Dr. Audie Williams, shared about his older brother Art Williams, the National League’s first black umpire. Students viewed the documentary based on the book “UNBELIEVABLE: The Life Journey of Art Williams” by Dr. Williams and learned about a pioneer breaking baseball’s color lines.

Liberty’s three Robotics Club teams competed in the California Region 3 Robotics Championships March 2 at Bakersfield College. Two teams qualified for the afternoon playoff matches. Team D lost in the semi-finals. It was a great showing making it to the semis against schools not only from Bakersfield but over to the coast and up to Fresno.

Congratulations to the the girls soccer team for their 3-1 win over Garces in the DI Central Section Championship! We host our first state playoff game this Tuesday vs Mira Costa at 5pm.

Now is the time to work with your senior student on filling out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. Whether your student is attending trade school, community college, or a public or private universltiy, the FAFSA is the gateway to college grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans. Filling out the FAFSA early helps colleges prepare award letters.

All public schools in California are required to annually prepare a School Accountability Report Card (SARC) and disseminate them to the public. SARCs are intended to provide the public with important information about each public school and to communicate a school's progress in achieving its goals.
