The CSF Membership drive for Fall 2023 is now open and applications are due by March 1. All grade levels are eligible to apply. As a reminder, students must qualify 4 of their 6 semesters between sophomore and senior years with one semester being in their senior year to be eligible to receive graduation regalia. See Mrs. Racicot in the Counseling Office with questions.

Liberty High School is offering four weekly Wednesday evening classes for parents or caregivers looking to strengthen parenting techniques beginning Feb. 28. Dinner will be provided and the program is free.

Seniors and parents of seniors need an FSA ID to fill out the FAFSA. Most seniors have created it at school. Parents of seniors can create their FSA by following this link prior to the FAFSA night.

The Liberty Social Studies Honor Society is hosting its Veterans Appreciation Banquet from 9 to 11 a.m. March 13 in the Liberty High School gym. Past and present service members are invited to attend the morning event that allows students and staff to honor veterans. Veterans may bring a guest. Central Section Masters Championships Feb 16 & 17 next for several LHS Wrestlers.

Liberty students participated in the 43rd annual Kern County Academic Decathlon Feb. 3 at Stockdale High School. Liberty’s team members were Lily Stark, Caidence Hansen, Manuel Tu, Alexa Rodriguez, Saw Noel, Elias Zambrano, Jasmin Lambert, Lucca Boren, and Alexander Fernandez. In the essay competition, Lily Stark won a silver medal and Caidence Hansen won a bronze medal. In the interview competition Alexander Fernandez won a bronze medal.

Liberty’s We the People teams competed against 10 teams from across the state last weekend near the Capitol in Sacramento, placing seventh overall. We the People is a constitutional competition for seniors in which a class team, made up of six units, demonstrates their understanding of a specific aspect of our nation's history through a four-minute prepared speech and six-minute Congressional style hearing questioning. The program's mission is to promote enlightened and responsible citizenry committed to democratic principles and actively engaged in the practice of democracy.
