There are adjustments to the spring master schedule causing some changes to student schedules. Students are advised to check their second semester schedule through StudentVue. Students will report directly to their 1st period class on Monday, January 9th. A list of all students’ 1st period locations will be posted outside the Dean’s Office on Monday before school begins at 8:30 a.m.

Liberty qualified for Title I funding for the 2022-2023 school year. As a result, we would like to provide information on the program and details related to parental rights. Parents are invited to the first annual Title I parent meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the Library on Wednesday, January 11th. Softball tryouts begin Monday, January 9th, at 3:45. Students need to complete the online physical packet available under "Athletics" on the school website in order to participate. Students need to report to the varsity field in full practice attire. Contact [email protected] with any questions.

Staff and students contributed gifts and books to give children at Munsey Elementary School through the annual Adopt-A-Patriot program and the Reading Club’s Coin and Cash Drive for books. The Adopt-A-Patriot project has been a tradition at Liberty for more than 20 years. Beginning in early December, students and staff began signing up to “adopt” an elementary school student and received a student’s list of toys and clothing. The senior ASB students delivered the gifts and books on December 21.

The price of the yearbook is going from $80 to $95 after Thursday, December 22. To get the original discounted price, you MUST buy it at the Finance Office this week before Friday. Purchase your yearbook before the semester ends!

Four Liberty High School teams participated in last weekend’s Kern Robotics High School League Finals competition at Bakersfield High School. Students developed small battery-run robots that aim yellow foam discs at a goal that is similar to Frisbee Golf goals. Two of the Liberty teams working in an alliance placed second in league finals and may qualify for the California State Robotics Championships in March.

The Art Club and National Art Honor Society spent their lunches over the past week making gingerbread houses for the Ronald McDonald House, H.E.A.R.T.S. Connection, the Miriam Jamison Children’s Center, and the Mission at Kern County.

All five Liberty choirs will perform their winter concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, December 13 in the PAC. General admission is $5, and $3 for students. Proceeds benefit the Choir Booster Scholarship. The music will be all Latin American music. “The students have worked hard to learn Spanish and Portuguese dialects and to give an authentic feeling to Latin rhythms,” choir teacher Tim Williams said. “This should be a fun concert.”

THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN - A day short of the anniversary of suffering a loss in the 2021 CIF State Division 1-AA title game, Liberty made the most of its second chance. Senior Kresean Kizzy scored three touchdowns — in about every fashion possible — and the Patriots rolled to a 48-20 victory over Pittsburg to capture the state 1-A championship on Saturday at Saddleback College.
