Many veterans are never thanked for their service to the country, but more than 40 local vets will receive handwritten thank you notes from members of Liberty’s National Social Studies Honor Society's Veterans Day Card Project. The project started three years ago after the annual Veterans Appreciation Day at LHS had to be canceled because of the pandemic.

The band, drumline, and colorguard performed their 2022 production, “Home…You Will Be Found,” in front of a full audience, winning 1st Place in their 4A division and achieving the highest score of the night to earn tournament champion for the second year in a row.  Liberty also had the highest percussion score of the night.

Liberty sent 20 students to the Peg Pauly High School Shakespeare Festival at Bakersfield College. The students competed with ensemble scenes, duo scenes, trio scenes, and monologues judged by BC theater professors and local actors. Liberty Actors peformed well including taking 2nd place for their performance of a scene from "A Midsummer Night's Dream."

Liberty students recently performed well at the Arvin Forensics Tournament. Team Coach Ogden Kiesel, a LHS science teacher, said none of the Liberty students had spoken in front of a group before. All are first-time public speakers. “Their hard work paid off,” Mr. Kiesel said. “They have a lot to be proud of. They put in a lot of time and effort.”

Although meals are free of charge for all students, we encourage you to fill out a meal application to help Liberty receive our fair share of education funding distributed through the Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). As far as sweeps go, Thursday’s Central Section Division I quarterfinal match at Liberty had about as much drama as possible when considering the Patriots won in straight sets.

Seniors: Come join us on a tour of Bakersfield College for the BC PATHWAYS EVENT next week on Nov. 4th. We are taking a bus full of seniors to tour the campus, explore pathway opportunities, engage with faculty, and learn about resources and support services. Lunch and giveaways will be provided to all students in attendance!

Jostens will be on campus Thursday, October 27 during lunch to take cap and gown orders and display other products. This will be your last chance to order on campus. After this, all orders must be done on-line or at the Jostens’ location. The basic Cap, Gown, and Tassel Package for graduation is $17.14 plus sales tax. Jostens also sells our yearbook, souvenir tassels, class rings, announcements, etc.

Please join us for a Parent Information night to discuss drug awareness and mental health tonight, Monday, October 24, at 6:00pm in the Performing Arts Center. The drug landscape is dramatically different from when parents grew up and even just a few years ago. Parents will learn about signs of drug abuse, anxiety and depression. In addition, parents will be equipped to have open and honest conversation with their students.
