The third quarter Listening Circles meeting of approximately 50 students was held last week. Listening Circles, which have been held on campus for five years, are an opportunity for students to get to know other students, to give them a place to talk about things big and small, and to learn to listen to one another and develop empathy by seeing someone else’s perspective.

Congratulations to all the Liberty athletes who were recognized as BVarsity all-area team members! These include volleyball player of the year: Emma Frederick, volleyball defensive player of the year: Paige Sentes, volleyball coach of the year: Morgan Dake, football player of the year: Kresean Kizzy, co-offensive football player of the year: Jalen Hankins, football defensive player of the year: Grant Buckey, and coach of the year: Bryan Nixon.

Liberty is looking for qualified candidates to join the Patriot Family. The Bilingual Instructional Assistant (BIA) will support our English Language Learner students in classrooms. The application closes Monday, January 23. Please reach out to the Liberty office with any questions.

Jostens will be on campus today, September 24, during lunch to take cap and gown orders and display other products for seniors. Take this opportunity to order on campus and talk to a Josten's representative. The basic Cap, Gown, and Tassel Package for graduation is $19.17 plus sales tax. Jostens also sells our yearbook, souvenir tassels, class rings, announcements, etc.

We learned that all incoming calls to Liberty High School are not going through. Our outgoing calls still work. AT&T is reporting this could take several hours to fix. The college & career center will be hosting a FAFSA/ BC application workshop to assist anyone that needs to complete it. This workshop will be held in the library today, 1/19/23, from 6pm- 8pm. We encourage students and parents to come to this workshop if you are needing help. Please note: if you plan on attending Bakersfield College, the last day to get priority registration is January 24th, so you must apply ASAP! If you have any question, please contact Mrs. Certuche and or our Cal-Soap Reps in the College and Career Center.

There are adjustments to the spring master schedule causing some changes to student schedules. Students are advised to check their second semester schedule through StudentVue. Students will report directly to their 1st period class on Monday, January 9th. A list of all students’ 1st period locations will be posted outside the Dean’s Office on Monday before school begins at 8:30 a.m.

Liberty qualified for Title I funding for the 2022-2023 school year. As a result, we would like to provide information on the program and details related to parental rights. Parents are invited to the first annual Title I parent meeting at 6:00 p.m. in the Library on Wednesday, January 11th. Softball tryouts begin Monday, January 9th, at 3:45. Students need to complete the online physical packet available under "Athletics" on the school website in order to participate. Students need to report to the varsity field in full practice attire. Contact [email protected] with any questions.
