Girls water polo plays tonight at 6pm in the DIII Central Section semifinals vs. Exeter. This is a home match at the Kern Aquatic Center. Let’s go Pats!

Liberty competed against 15 schools in Kern County at the 55th Annual Peg Pauley Shakespeare Festival at Bakersfield College on Oct. 20-21. Ensemble performances were Friday, Oct. 20 and continued with Monologues and Duo/Triologues on Saturday, Oct. 21. Liberty took first, second and third places in the Duo/Triologue competition, as well as third place in Ensemble. Liberty also had a Monologue finalist and three outstanding Ensemble acting awards.

The Patriot Band, Drumline, and Color Guard is on a roll over the last two weekends. This past Saturday, the BDC earned 1st place and Best High Auxiliary in their division. In addition, they earned the high score out of all divisions to earn Tournament Champions.

Liberty High School art students recreated Gustave Courbet’s painting “Desperate Man” in chalk on a 7-foot-square section of pavement at the 25th annual Via Arte Italian Street Painting Festival at The Marketplace this past Saturday. They received an Honorable Mention for Student Artists and Groups.

Students from Just Serve student clubs at Liberty, Frontier and Centennial high schools gathered Oct. 14 to package almonds donated by South Valley Farms to benefit Golden Empire Gleaners, a food bank that works to eliminate hunger in the Southern San Joaquin Valley.

Winter athletic teams are conditioning and starting tryouts soon. All athletes, not involved in a fall sport, must submit a new physical exam form (filled out by a physician) and electronic sports packet prior to participating.

The Patriot community knows that Liberty Homecoming is 2nd to none. With a great football team, amazing halftime performances, and senior night, we encourage you to arrive early. There is a limited supply of Homecoming T-Shirts available for each grade level. They can be purchased at the finance office at lunch for $25 cash. Students wear the HOCO shirts on Friday.

This is homecoming week with dress up days, float building, activities at lunch, a food sale day on Wednesday, and a rally on Friday. There will be a limited supply of homecoming shirts for sale ($25 cash only) for students who did not pre-order them begining Wednesday at lunch at the finance office window.

Each semester, we conduct a safety drill that includes practicing a lockdown and evacuation. All staff were trained in safety at our back to school meetings. Our first drill was on Thursday, August 24. These drills provide staff and students an opportunity to practice our procedures. In conjunction with other school districts and law enforcement agencies in Kern County, the Kern High School District uses a uniform, planned, and practiced Standard Response Protocol (SRP).
