This fall, Liberty High School has proudly been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the nation’s top high schools. This national honor reflects Liberty’s excellence across multiple measures, including Advanced Placement (AP) performance, Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway completion, and college and career readiness.

The Agriculture Program at Liberty High School continues to flourish, offering students hands on opportunities to grow their skills and creativity. One shining example is the Floral Design class, a Career Technical Education (CTE) pathway and dual enrollment course that blends art, science, and agriculture. Students in the class earn both high school and college credit while learning floral design techniques, business concepts, and leadership through FFA.

Homecoming week at Liberty High School was nothing short of magical. Year after year, the campus comes alive with tradition, pride, and community, and this past week was a shining example of why nobody does Homecoming like Liberty.

Homecoming at Liberty High is more than a week of festivities and school spirit, it’s a celebration of community, belonging, and working together for something bigger than yourself. It’s about coming together to lift one another up, to celebrate what matters most, and to recognize the strength found in unity. Few stories embody that spirit more than the journey of senior David Castillo.

Friday night’s volleyball matchup between Liberty and Centennial, and sweeping defeat of the Golden Hawks, carried a deeper meaning beyond the scoreboard. Before the first serve, Liberty High School hosted a heartfelt pregame tribute to honor the memory and legacy of Cristen Trent-Brink, a proud member of Liberty’s Class of 2002 and one of the founding athletes who helped establish the excellence of Liberty volleyball.

After a year’s hiatus, Liberty High School’s PLAYtrioT Theatre Company made a triumphant return to the 56th Annual Peg Pauly High Shakespeare Festival, held this past weekend at Bakersfield College. Competing against 14 schools, Liberty’s drama students showcased their remarkable talent, teamwork, and dedication and brought home an impressive array of honors.

On Friday, October 10, Liberty High School’s clubs PODER and Listos joined forces to host a vibrant Hispanic Heritage Month lunchtime celebration. The event transformed the quad into a lively space filled with music, laughter, and meaningful cultural connection.

This past weekend, Liberty High School’s talented art students once again showcased their creativity and teamwork at the annual Via Arte event, hosted by the Bakersfield Museum of Art at the Marketplace. The festival transforms the parking lot into a vibrant outdoor gallery where artists of all ages and categories bring their chalk masterpieces to life on 7 foot by 7 foot squares of pavement.

This past Friday night was one to remember as the Liberty Spirit Team took the field alongside a record 128 Mini Pats, the largest group in program history. The Mini Pats, ranging in age from 4 to 12, were each partnered with a member of the Liberty Spirit Team, creating an unforgettable experience for all involved.
