Liberty Artists Earn Best Technique Award at Via Arte

For many students, Via Arte was an opportunity to step outside their comfort zones and try something new. Intermediate Art student Ava Faires admitted she was hesitant to participate because she had never worked with chalk before. However, she discovered that the experience was well worth it.

“The drawing seemed difficult at first, but working together with others made it so much more enjoyable,” Ava shared. “I am so thankful for being given the opportunity to be a part of Via Arte and would definitely encourage others to go!”

That sense of collaboration was a common theme among the students. Jade Nguyen, Art Club vice president, appreciated the chance to explore a new medium alongside her peers. After six hours of work, she said seeing the finished piece was incredibly rewarding. “It was really fun working with the other participants to recreate such a complex painting that resulted in us getting an award for it,” Jade reflected. She also enjoyed seeing the different artistic processes and approaches used by other schools.

Advanced Art student Aiesha Olazo also embraced the challenge, despite being new to chalk pastels and finding the afternoon heat less than forgiving. She was pleasantly surprised by how well the team worked together, even finishing their piece an hour early. Reflecting on the experience, Aiesha shared that she was proud of the team’s collaborative effort and enjoyed creating art alongside her friends.

For senior Izabel Bennett, the experience was about both the fun of participating and the excitement of bringing home an award. “I won't say that I did it to learn from the experience; I did it to win, and that's what happened,” she joked. Although the work was physically demanding, Izabel was grateful for the memories and proud that the team had done its best.

Congratulations to our talented Patriot artists: Izabel Bennett, Maya G., Alexandra Gonzalez, Elena Chavez, Aiesha Olazo, Jade Nguyen, Ava Faires, Cadence Reisen, Andrew Albinder, and Violet Sinnork.

We are proud of these students for representing Liberty, supporting one another, and sharing their creativity with our community. Their experience is a wonderful reminder that trying something new can lead to meaningful connections, lasting memories, and outstanding accomplishments.
