Each semester, we conduct a safety drill that includes practicing a lockdown and evacuation. All staff were trained in safety at our back to school meetings. Our first drill was on Thursday, August 24. These drills provide staff and students an opportunity to practice our procedures. In conjunction with other school districts and law enforcement agencies in Kern County, the Kern High School District uses a uniform, planned, and practiced Standard Response Protocol (SRP).

The Liberty High Singers will perform a gospel concert “Shout Glory! A Celebration of American Gospel Music” at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, in the Liberty Performing Arts Center. Admission is $5 general admission and $3 for students. The Chamber Singers, Bass Choir, Treble Choir, Learn to Sing Class, Liberty Chorale and Soloists will perform.

This is We Matter Week. The “I Matter, You Matter, We Matter” Campaign started in 2017 at Liberty High School. It was a joint effort with a group of students passionate about reminding our student body that there is so much to celebrate about life and that no one is truly alone. We are all more alike than we are different and we all matter!

Monday, October 2, is the deadline to order homecoming shirts. The online store closed Sunday night. However, shirts can be purchased for $20 at the finance office in person or over the phone.

Fall and winter months typically see an uptick of seasonal viruses including colds, flu, and other illnesses that can keep students out of school for days at a time. Unfortunately, it can be hard to catch up with schoolwork when returning after days away from campus.

You are invited you to our Annual Title 1 Meeting on September 18, 2023, at 6:00pm in the library. During this meeting, you can learn about what Title 1 means for our school as well as your rights as parents. In addition, you will be able to see the Title 1 School-Level Parent and Family Engagement Policy and help modify it to better fit our needs as a school.

It’s your student’s senior year! What information do you need to know as a senior parent? Find out on Wednesday, September 20 at 6pm in the PAC. It is also college application season! At our info night, you will meet our Patriot college support team and learn about helping support your senior in the college application and financial aid process.

This is Liberty’s 25th year! On Friday, September 22 we are celebrating by gathering and having dinner with current and former staff, alumni, and past and current parents. If Liberty played an important role in your life at one point, please join us at the Luigi's Warehouse!

Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors: It doesn't matter if you have good or bad grades! You belong here! The 2023-24 topic is "Technology and Humanity". Known as the ‘Super Bowl’ of local scholastic competitions, high school teams face off in categories of the competition including speech, interviews, essays, mathematics, economics, science, music, art, social science and literature.

Kern County Superintendent of Schools (KCSOS), in conjunction with the Kern
High School District, Bakersfield College, CSU, Bakersfield, and Taft College will host the annual Kern County College Night on Monday, Sept. 11 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Mechanics Bank Convention Center.
