Mr. Jose Castro was honored at the Kern County Superintendent of School’s Education Champions Dinner. Mr. Castro is an original staff member at Liberty High School, celebrating his 30th year as a passionate and dedicated math teacher, including 23 years teaching AP Calculus with exceptional results. His engaging and rigorous classes have empowered and prepared hundreds of students to excel in college-level math, with 98% passing the AP exam and 73% earning the top score of "5," a testament to his unwavering commitment to math education.

Congratulations to Elijah Lidgett, Kyle Palla, and Aris Gomez for winning PEAAK Awards! Competing against other nominees from the Kern High School District, they won awards for Most Inspirational and Best Editing in Film.

Congratulations to Bella Turner for earning two medals in the CIF State track meet on Saturday! Bella finished 3rd place in the 100 hurdles and 5th place in the 300 hurdles.

The Kern High School District hosted the Lavender Awards at West High School Tuesday evening to celebrate the accomplishments of students and advisors. Many schools from across KHSD participated, and Liberty staff and students were recognized with three awards.

Baseball defeated Clovis West 9-6 at Valley Strong Ballpark in Visalia to win the Central Section title. Congrats to Coach Mills and the boys for the first Central Section championship in school history!

Congratulations to Ty Weaver for competing in the Southern California Regional Championships. Ty finished with a one under 73 at the Los Serranos Golf Course in Chino Hills.

Seniors will leave for Grad Nite after the mandatory graduation seating meeting on Tuesday morning, May 28. Congratulations to Cole O’Brien for being honored as one of Kern County’s five male Tyack Award finalists. The prestigious Tyack Award is presented to Kern County’s most outstanding senior athletes.

The Liberty golf team finished 3rd in the Central Section Boys Golf tournament and 1st out of the Kern County teams. In addition, Ty Weaver placed 4th with a score of 71 and qualified for regionals.
