Liberty High School senior Kamryn Bias took first place for Digital Photography Best Photo in the entire Kern High School District at the district’s Visual Arts Showcase 2025, held Tuesday at the Bakersfield Museum of Art.
“Kamryn really impressed the judges with her work,” Adam Vinson, teacher of photography and graphic design at Liberty.
Two other Liberty students, both in art teacher Sarah Galicia’s art classes, placed in the showcase as well. Sophomore Scarlett Doyle took third place in Best Drawing and junior Brooke Henry took third place in Best Color.
Mrs. Galicia also entered junior Zoey Stafford in the Mixed-Media category, sophomore Maya Normington in the Painting category, senior Katelynn Williams in the Portrait category, senior Ashley White in the Outstanding Senior Artist category, and senior Lauryn Brown in the Rising Artist category.
Mr. Vinson entered senior Madyson Hampton in the Outstanding Senior category in Digital Photography and senior Samuel Nunez in the Best Use of Color category for Digital Photography.
Students received trophies for placing in the top three in each of the categories and all students received certificates of participation.
Mr. Vinson said that his students “Dare to dream, create, and express what others only feel. In every brushstroke, sketch, photograph, or click of the mouse Liberty Visual and Performing Arts students shape the future with imagination and creativity.”
