Dear Liberty Families,
Thank you to everyone who joined us for Back to School Night. The turnout was incredible, and it was wonderful to see so many of you connecting with our teachers and staff. We truly value the partnership we share with you in supporting your child’s education, and we look forward to continuing to work together throughout the year.
Last week we also celebrated one of our favorite traditions, the Freshman Tailgate Party. We had an outstanding group of 210 freshmen come out to join the fun. They enjoyed food, music, and games, then had the special honor of leading our football team onto the field. Our newest Patriots also learned the cheers to get them ready to join the PatRIOT section on Friday night.
We ended the week with an American Barbecue themed rally on Friday. It was a spirited event that brought the entire student body together and set the tone for a fantastic start to the school year.
Thank you again for your continued support. Together, we are building a strong, vibrant Patriot community where every student belongs and thrives.
Your partner in learning and growing,
Leandrea Slayton
Principal

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does my student get involved in clubs? A: In mid-September, Liberty will host Club Rush Day at lunch. The quad will be filled with tables representing the wide variety of clubs on campus, and students are encouraged to sign up for as many as they are interested in.
Once clubs begin meeting, announcements will be made about meeting times and locations. Students can also find this information in Liberty 101 on their Canvas dashboard.
We expect every student to participate in at least one activity on campus — whether athletics, fine arts, an academic team, or a club. Students should also pay special attention to content area honor societies, National Honor Society, and CSF (California Scholarship Federation). These groups are based on academics and community service, and they provide opportunities for students to earn cords and stoles for graduation. It is the student’s responsibility to apply.
Q: What is the pairing code for Canvas? A: To become a parent observer on Canvas, you must get a pairing code from your student. This will allow parents to observe course work assigned to students through Canvas, as well as to see grades recorded on Canvas.
Most teachers maintain completed grades on Synergy throughout the grading period, which is accessible through ParentVue. The grade in ParentVue may also include items such as class participation that are not visible in Canvas. At the end of each grading period, official grades are submitted through Synergy.
For the Observer (to use the code):
-
Go to the Canvas Parent Login page here.
-
Click the link that says "Parent of a Canvas user" or a similar option to set up an account.
-
Enter your name and email, and create a password for your new observer account.
-
Enter the pairing code you received from the student into the provided field.
-
Click "Start Participating" (or the equivalent button) to complete the process and link to the student's account.
