Building Belonging and Success

On Thursday night, 210 freshmen came out to celebrate the start of their Liberty journey at the Freshman Tailgate Party before the Freshman–Sophomore football game. Hosted by our Link Crew, the evening was filled with community and fun—students enjoyed barbecued hot dogs, games of corn hole, face painting, and more.

The highlight of the night came when our freshmen joined the Patriot Crew to lead the football team onto the field, running through the tunnel and into the stands. Once in the student section, they learned the Liberty cheers so they could proudly represent at the varsity game on Friday night.

At Liberty, we know the transition to high school can feel overwhelming, so we’ve put extra supports in place for our Class of 2029. This year, two dedicated freshman counselors—Heather Graham and Kerri Ussery—along with Jennifer Ayres for Project Lead the Way students, are guiding freshmen through their first year. They’ve already visited every freshman class twice to ensure students can log into StudentVue to track grades and attendance, navigate Canvas, and send emails to their teachers with confidence.

The Patriot family extends beyond academics. Our football coaches personally visited classrooms to invite freshmen to the tailgate and remind them that being involved is key to a successful high school experience. Varsity coach Richie Bolin even paired every freshman football player with a varsity mentor, fostering leadership and connection on and off the field.

At Liberty High School, we believe all students can learn and thrive when they feel connected. Our community is committed to guiding freshmen as they discover their passions, learn from mistakes, and carry forward the Patriot legacy of excellence. Together, we’re building not just school spirit, but a true Patriot family.
