Patriot Family,
Welcome to the 2025–26 school year! This is my favorite time of year because the possibilities are endless. Regardless of past experiences—whether successes or challenges—we begin on even ground and have the chance to shape this year into something meaningful together.
Our schoolwide theme and focus for the year is Keep Going, Keep Growing. In a results-driven society, it’s easy to overlook the value of the process, but true growth happens in the journey. On Wednesday during 2nd period, all students watched a short video that introduced the idea of the learning space—the gap between where we are now and where we want to be. This space can feel frustrating or overwhelming, but the more time we allow ourselves to stay in it, the more resilient and confident we become.
Success is rarely a straight line. It’s a messy path filled with setbacks and failures. That’s why our teachers are committed to high expectations paired with high support. My hope is that you’ll join us in reinforcing this at home by talking with your students about the growing process. When something is difficult, it doesn’t mean it’s not worthwhile—it often means it’s even more valuable. Together, let’s celebrate progress and growth in the learning space, not just the final results. That is how we motivate our students to truly Keep Going, Keep Growing.
As principal of Liberty High School, I also want to acknowledge something important: no one loves our students more than their families. My goal is to partner with you in this vital work—helping students build a sense of belonging here at Liberty while also preparing them with a clear vision of the possibilities that await after graduation.
Please keep an eye out for opportunities to connect and collaborate. Our first will be Back to School Night on August 27. I look forward to seeing you there.
Your partner in learning and growing, Leandrea Slayton
