Patriot family,
Last Wednesday, we had the honor of hosting Principal Partners’ Day, and I continue to be filled with pride reflecting on the experience. Our community partners were deeply impressed by our students, their engagement, respect, and enthusiasm were evident in every classroom they visited. Many commented on the powerful sense of family and connection that radiates throughout our campus. That culture is something we’ve built together, staff, students, and families, and it is the heartbeat of Liberty High.
As we continue our celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, I am reminded of how vital it is for every student to feel seen, valued, and celebrated. The events and classroom activities honoring Hispanic culture have been filled with joy, learning, and pride. These moments strengthen our school community and remind us of the beauty in our diversity.
I am also incredibly proud of the early-year accomplishments of our Fine Arts programs, from our band placing high in their past two competitions, to the top drama finishes at this past week’s Shakespeare Festival performances, to the talented art students at this weekend's Via Arte, to the forensics team placing high at every speech and debate tournament so far. They embody what it means to represent Liberty with passion and pride.
Our Esports team is currently tied for first in their league, and our fall sports teams continue to show tremendous grit and determination as we approach the playoff season. I expect great things from each of our athletes, not only in results but in the resilience and confidence they continue to build through competition.
This past Friday night, I was reminded of the intangibles that make competition so meaningful. Standing in the Liberty gym before the Liberty-Centennial volleyball match, I shared the legacy of a player I coached 26 years ago, Cristen Trent. When I asked her former teammates what they remembered about her, every answer reflected her character, the kindness, commitment, and positivity she brought to everyone around her. It was never about stats or trophies; it was about how she made others feel.
As we continue striving for excellence in all we do, let’s remember that while accolades may fade, our legacy lives on in the consistency of how we show up every day and how we handle adversity. Our success as a school community comes from the true partnership between staff, students, and families working together toward our shared goals and avoiding anything that takes us off course.
Thank you for continuing to make Liberty High a place where excellence, heart, and hope thrive side by side. I look forward to an exciting Homecoming Week and the collaboration between staff, students, and families in the building of the floats.
