For the second year in a row, Liberty High School’s robotics team traveled to St. Louis, Missouri to compete in the prestigious 2026 VEX Robotics World Championship, held April 21–24. Facing off against more than 800 teams from 44 countries, our Patriots proudly represented Liberty on the global stage.

Last Friday, April 17th, Liberty’s Esports team traveled to CTEC to compete in the Spring Finals, showcasing their skill and determination against top players from across the district. The excitement continued into Saturday, April 18th, as several of our students advanced to the Grand Finals of the Super Smash Bros. tournament.

On Wednesday after school, 16 Liberty Patriots competed in the AP Statistics and AP Calculus Math Competition at Independence High School. With eight students in each event, Liberty faced off against strong competition from local schools as well as programs from the coast. By the end of the day, it was clear that our Patriots were competing at an entirely different level.

Throughout the school year, Liberty students demonstrated the power of service through a meaningful partnership with the Community Action Partnership of Kern (CAPK). Established in 1965, CAPK has supported hundreds of thousands of Kern County residents, and Liberty was proud to contribute to that legacy of care.

Freshman students in Liberty’s Biomed program recently had the opportunity to visit California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB) for an engaging and informative field trip focused on the university’s nursing program. The visit gave students a firsthand look at college life while exploring potential career pathways in the medical field.

The recently reinstated FFA program is already celebrating a major milestone, as its first students have earned one of the organization’s highest honors: the State FFA Degree. Awarded this past Wednesday to Paisley Harris and Braden Turman, this achievement marks a significant moment not only for the students, but for the continued growth and success of the program.

The Liberty High National Social Studies Honor Society recently sponsored a meaningful field trip to the historic Manzanar National Historic Site, located in Inyo County on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. The day began early, with 32 students and four teachers departing at 6:00 a.m. for the 3½-hour journey.

The weekend going into spring break, Little Shop of Horrors wrapped up an outstanding and memorable run, leaving audiences impressed and inspired. With two weekends of full houses, the production showcased not only the immense talent of Liberty’s students but also the incredible support from the school community. From the first note to the final curtain call, it was clear this was no ordinary high school production.

Sophia Munoz-Rodriguez has made an extraordinary impact both in and out of the pool during her time at Liberty. A four-year varsity swimmer, Sophia now holds all of the girls’ school swim records. This is an impressive achievement that reflects her dedication, discipline, and relentless work ethic.
