Patriot Family,
This week will be our very first Principal Roundtable of the school year. I’ll get to eat lunch with students who signed up, listen to what’s going well, and hear what’s on their minds. These roundtables allow us to collaborate to problem-solve and make Liberty even better. Last year, our conversations led to the share table in the cafeteria, a simple but powerful idea that came from students concerned about wasted food and the amount of trash left on campus as a result. Getting to hear their voices and spend time with them in this way is truly one of the very best parts of my job.
I also want to encourage all of you to attend the College Fair on Monday evening at the Dignity Health Arena. It’s a fantastic opportunity for students and families to connect with colleges, gather information, and start thinking about the future. Whether your student is just beginning to dream about college or is already filling out applications, this event has something for everyone.
Thank you for being such an important part of our Liberty community. Together, we make sure our students know they belong, their voices matter, and their futures are bright.
Your partner in learning and growing, Leandrea Slayton Principal, Liberty High School

Frequently Ask Questions
Q: Is community service a requirement for graduation? Requirement for college applications? When can they start community service? (Any grade or senior year only?) Where do they keep track of it? A: Community service is not a requirement for graduation at Liberty High School. However, many colleges highly value community service as part of their admissions process, since it demonstrates responsibility, leadership, and engagement.
Students may begin completing community service hours in any grade level — it is not limited to their senior year. Keeping track of hours is important: students should record their service in a log in ordetr to keep track for college and scholarship applications and have it signed by the supervising organization. Some honor societies and scholarships also require documented community service hours, so students are encouraged to begin early and stay consistent.
If you have a general question, use this link to ask it and watch for the answer.
