Alex is a true example of what it means to Be a Light. He has a remarkable ability to find the positive in every situation, encourage those around him, and face challenges with a smile. His optimism is not simply an attitude; it is a choice he makes every day, even when circumstances are difficult.
Alex’s light shines through his commitment to service and his desire to make a difference in his community. Through his involvement in We the People, he discovered a passion for civic engagement and public service and developed an even deeper understanding of the importance of doing what is right, even when no one is watching. His involvement in FFA has also shaped his vision for the future, connecting his own family’s story to his desire to serve the agricultural community of Kern County.
As a first-generation Mexican American and first-generation college student, Alex understands perseverance firsthand. He has seen his family work long hours in the fields, and those experiences have strengthened his desire to give back to the hardworking people who make Kern County what it is. Rather than allowing challenges to define him, Alex uses them as motivation to keep moving forward.
What makes Alex’s story especially powerful is his desire not simply to achieve success, but to become someone others can trust, someone who leads by example, and someone who creates meaningful results for the people around him. He recognizes that great leaders are built through experience, perseverance, and a willingness to keep going when things get difficult.
Alex, you are a light because you choose optimism, you choose perseverance, and you choose to use your experiences to lift others. Your determination to grow, serve, and give back reminds us that our greatest challenges can become the foundation for our greatest impact. Your light does not fade when things get hard. It shines even brighter.
