Our Liberty FFA students brought that vision to life at this year’s Kern County Fair.
Patriots competed across sheep, goats, rabbits, dogs, cavies, and swine, earning an incredible collection of championship, reserve championship, and showmanship honors.
Ella Pinheiro earned Reserve Grand Champion Ewe, Champion White Face Ewe, Reserve Champion Natural Market Lamb, and Champion Middle Weight Kern Bred & Fed Market Lamb.
Farah Fuller had an exceptional showing, earning Reserve Grand Champion Market Lamb, Champion FFA Market Lamb, Champion Natural Market Lamb, Reserve Hampshire Market Lamb, and Champion Senior FFA Market Lamb Showman.
Makynna Barger earned Reserve Southdown Market Lamb, while Alexander Murillo brought home Champion AOB Lamb.
In the goat divisions, Bridgette Mawson earned Grand Champion Wether Dam Doe, Champion Middleweight Wether Dam Doe, and Reserve Champion Wether Dam Doe Showman. Macen Sawyer was named Champion Junior FFA Goat Showman.
Our Patriots also excelled in the small animal divisions. Luke Farrell earned Champion Junior FFA Rabbit Showman, and Miles McDonald was named Champion Junior FFA Cavy Showman. Brooklynn Hardy had an outstanding showing with championships in Junior FFA Dog Showmanship, Dog Rally Showmanship, and Dog Obedience Showmanship. Alexa Mayfield earned Reserve Champion Junior FFA Swine Showman.
Liberty FFA students also had the honor of helping open three different days at the Kern County Fair by singing the National Anthem. Freshman Baylee Chase, junior Bailee Payne, and sophomore Miley Sierra each took the stage on separate days to proudly represent Liberty and share their talents with the fair community. It was another wonderful reminder that our students are finding opportunities to lead, serve, and represent their school in so many different ways.
While the ribbons and championship titles are certainly worth celebrating, what makes these accomplishments especially meaningful is what happens behind the scenes. Our students spend countless hours caring for their animals, learning responsibility, preparing for competitions, balancing schoolwork with their projects, and developing the confidence to stand in front of a judge and showcase what they have accomplished.
That is the heart of FFA.
We often say that every student deserves every opportunity to have enriching experiences and find a community to thrive. Our FFA students are living that mission. They are discovering that agriculture is not just about animals or farming. It is about leadership, responsibility, science, business, communication, perseverance, and relationships.
We are incredibly proud of the way our Patriots represented Liberty at the Kern County Fair. A special thank you to Agriculture teachers Maghan Miller and Amber Carter, along with the families, mentors, and supporters who pour so much time and energy into helping our students succeed.
The Liberty FFA program is growing, and our students are showing us just how much is possible when we give them an opportunity to find something they are passionate about.
