“We Matter Week is a week to encourage the people around us to stay positive and remember that every voice matters,” said Sophie Seaney, senior and We Matter Week co-coordinator.
Kenzington Perez, senior and co-coordinator, shared, “I think WE Matter Week has been a great way to spread positivity throughout campus and make students feel like they belong to our community.”
The week also gave students opportunities to find connection through the many groups and activities that make Liberty special. Club Rush Day brought together a wide variety of student clubs and organizations, giving students the chance to learn about opportunities to get involved, meet new people, and find a community that matches their interests.
“I really like how many different diverse groups were represented. We have so many options,” said Reagan Actis, junior. “I wish we had a little more room in the quad to spread out more.”
Another highlight of the week was Senior Sunrise, a special morning dedicated to celebrating the Class of 2027 as they begin their final year at Liberty. Seniors gathered with friends, took pictures, enjoyed sweet treats, and created memories together as they officially began their senior year.
“Senior Sunrise was a memorable way to start our senior year. It was fun spending time with my friends, taking pictures and having a sweet treat along the way. Celebrating our final year together made this morning a day I'll always remember,” said Scarlett Doyle, senior.
For Ada Haynes, senior, Senior Sunrise represented something even bigger than a fun morning with friends.
“Senior Sunrise to me means that we can be a community and all be together and put our differences aside and just be a class and cherish our memories.”
From a simple high five to discovering a new club or gathering together to watch the sunrise, We Matter Week was a reminder that community is built through the little moments. When we take the time to notice one another, encourage one another, and make space for every voice, we strengthen the Liberty Family.
At Liberty, we believe every person matters. This week was a celebration of that belief and a reminder that each of us has the power to help someone else feel valued, included, and seen.
