Last weekend, Liberty Percussion traveled to Ontario, California to compete in the WGI Ontario Regional, one of the premier competitions for indoor percussion ensembles. Competing in the highly competitive Scholastic Percussion Open Class division, Liberty delivered a strong preliminary performance, placing 6th out of 18 groups and earning a coveted spot in the Finals competition for the second time in the past four years.
Finals took place in the Toyota Arena, where the Liberty Drumline once again performed at a high level, finishing 6th overall in the Scholastic Percussion Open Class division. Their consistent placement among the top groups reflects the students’ dedication, discipline, and countless hours of rehearsal as they continue to represent Liberty with pride on the regional stage.
The successes continued earlier in the week as the Liberty Wind Ensemble participated in the California Music Educators Association (CMEA) Ratings Festival hosted at West High School last Wednesday. The Wind Ensemble, Liberty’s premier concert band made up of audition-only musicians, performed for a panel of adjudicators and earned a Unanimous Superior rating, the highest honor possible at the festival.
This accomplishment is especially significant as it marks the first time in 10 years that Liberty’s Wind Ensemble has received this prestigious rating. The recognition reflects the ensemble’s exceptional musicianship, preparation, and the continued growth of Liberty’s band program.
Congratulations to our talented musicians and directors for continuing to build on the success of the fall marching season and carrying that momentum into an outstanding spring of performances. Their dedication, teamwork, and passion for music continue to showcase the strength of Liberty’s performing arts programs.
