Liberty Robotics Teams Shine at State, Team 11475B Qualifies for Worlds

Team 11475B had an exceptional performance, earning multiple top honors. They were awarded the Excellence Award, recognizing the team that best represents overall excellence in engineering, teamwork, and competition skills. In addition, they captured the Robot Skills Champion title, and finished as Tournament Finalists, advancing all the way to the championship match before narrowly falling to the tournament champions from Centennial High School. These accomplishments secured Team 11475B a qualification to compete at the VEX Robotics World Championship in St. Louis next month, marking the second year in a row that Liberty has sent a team to Worlds.

Members of Team 11475B include Brandon Buendia, Jonathan Lo, Christopher Tang, Meng Xu, and Dauk Mulhula.

Liberty was also proudly represented by Team 11475C, with members Payton Benson, Abigail Chang, Ty Nguyen, Hayden Bejrsuwana, Yuvraj Kamboj, Clayton Scovel, and Shahbaaz Guraya, and Team 11475D, consisting of Hector Gutierrez, Giovanni Marquez, Juan Cisneros, Beckham Brumfield, and Madison Hurst. Both teams competed strongly throughout the event and gained valuable experience against some of the state’s best robotics programs.

Teams can qualify for the VEX World Championship in several ways at the state level, including earning the Excellence Award, winning the Tournament Championship, finishing as Tournament Finalists, receiving the Design Award, or becoming the Robot Skills Champion. Team 11475B secured their spot on the world stage through a combination of Excellence Award, Robot Skills Champion, and Tournament Finalist honors.

The continued success of Liberty’s robotics program reflects the dedication, creativity, and perseverance of our students, as well as the leadership of Coach Tom Johnson, whose guidance continues to inspire students to push the boundaries of innovation and problem solving.

Congratulations to all three Liberty robotics teams for representing our school with pride, and best of luck to Team 11475B as they prepare to compete against the best teams in the world in St. Louis next month. Go Patriots!
