Teacher of the Year: Antoinette Scheler
Biology Teacher • PLTW Biomedical Pathway Teacher • Instructional Coach
Toni Scheler is simply extraordinary.
Step into her Biology or Biomedical classroom and you’ll immediately see hands-on, exciting science lessons filled with demonstrations, models, and experiments that fully engage students. In Scheler's room, learning is active, meaningful, and memorable. Students aren’t just absorbing content, they’re experiencing it.
Beyond her classroom, Mrs. Scheler serves as an exceptional Instructional Coach. She patiently answers questions about technology, teaching strategies, grading practices, and the PLTW process. She thoughtfully plans New Teacher Luncheons, leads Instructional Rounds, and somehow manages the many hats she wears with calm organization and humor that helps all breathe a little easier. Her impact extends far beyond her own students, she strengthens teaching and learning across our entire campus.
Mrs. Scheler shared her “why” behind the passion and way she interacts with all, students and peers. She originally set out to become a special education teacher after growing up watching her mother and siblings navigate dyslexia and the toll it can take on confidence. She realized she could reach even more students as a single-subject teacher, with a mission to ensure every student knows they are capable of being smart and becoming lifelong learners. That purpose is felt in everything she does.
Toni doesn’t just teach science, she builds confidence, curiosity, and belief in every student who walks through her door.
