Liberty FFA Celebrates a Thriving Return at Mid-Year Family Night

In its first semester, Liberty FFA has enrolled 112 students across four agriculture courses, logged 472 community service hours, supported over 100 student Supervised Agricultural Experience projects, and awarded 82 Greenhand Degrees. Students have earned dual enrollment college credit, competed in public speaking events, represented Liberty at the Kern County Fair for the first time in over a decade, and built a strong financial foundation through successful fundraisers. The chapter also showcased its forward momentum, announcing plans to expand to three full agricultural career pathways, add new course offerings, and welcome a second agriculture teacher next year.

District Director of Agricultural Education, Mr. Clay Freeman, took note of the extraordinary family turnout, sharing that he had “not seen anything like it anywhere else.” Principal Leandrea Slayton echoed this sentiment, stating, “Hearing that acknowledgement from Mr. Freeman was incredibly affirming. Parent engagement and family support are what truly set Liberty apart. The success of Liberty FFA, and all of our programs, is a direct reflection of a community that shows up for students.” The evening served as a powerful reminder that Liberty’s strength lies in its partnerships between students, families, staff, and community, and the future of Liberty FFA is bright.
