One of the most cherished traditions of the season was the annual Mini Pats event, which welcomed more than 125 future cheerleaders and dancers ages 5–12. Each participant was paired with a Spirit Team member and invited to join the sidelines for a Liberty Football game. This tradition carries special meaning, as many current athletes once participated in Mini Pats themselves, and now find themselves mentoring the next generation. It is even more meaningful as alumni return with their own children to take part in the event, creating a beautiful, full-circle moment for the program.
For Coach Shearon, this year’s Mini Pats held particular significance. Experiencing it not only as a coach but also as “a parent to a Mini Pat participant,” she shared that “seeing my daughter get to experience being on the sidelines with my athletes was so special and an event I’ll always cherish.” That sense of joy resonated throughout the team. Junior cheerleader Zoe Thompson said Mini Pats is her favorite tradition because “all the kids are so excited to be there, and it’s the most rewarding night.” Senior dancer Sofia West added that she loves “seeing the little girls who return and grow each year,” calling the event “such a special experience.”
As the season closes, the program also celebrates its dedicated seniors—leaders who have set the tone for what it means to be a Patriot on and off the field. Their example of commitment, kindness, and spirit has shaped the program in lasting ways. The younger athletes look up to them not only for their skill, but for the joy and unity they bring to the team. Their legacy will continue to shine through every chant, every halftime performance, and every community event still to come.
