A highlight of the evening was Liberty’s own Artemisa Hernandez, who shared a heartfelt speech about her journey with PODER over the years. She reflected on the impact the program has had on her life:
“Although my years with PODER are quickly coming to an end, I truly am forever thankful for my advisors for helping me navigate my future with school, life, and goals. I’ve learned to strive for greatness by using my cultural background as a superpower to achieve my dreams. I’ve also met a great group of girls that have become my sisters, and together we have achieved success as a group to express our traditions and heritage. Overall, I’ve gained a lot of support and confidence to help me grow as a student and as a person.”
In addition to inspiring speeches, families participated in hands-on activities and learned more about the leadership, academic, and cultural experiences available through PODER. The night was filled with laughter, learning, and community spirit, reinforcing the strong connection between the school and its families.
Events like PODER Family Night highlight the importance of family engagement in students’ educational journeys and celebrate the growth, confidence, and accomplishments of the students involved.
