Liberty Volleyball Earns #1 Seed in Southern California State Championship Bracket

Earning the top seed means Liberty will host every playoff round leading up to the State Finals, as long as they continue their winning streak. The team’s consistency, teamwork, and fierce determination have defined their season and earned them the respect of their opponents and community alike.

Head Coach Morgan Dake expressed his pride in the team’s hard work and excitement for what lies ahead. She shared, “We are excited for the opportunity to compete and host a state playoff game, hopefully multiple games. We feel fortunate to receive the #1 seed in the D-2 bracket and to represent our school and Bakersfield to the best of our ability.”

For the players, the recognition reflects months of preparation, focus, and dedication. Senior captain Mikenlie Vandorg reflected on the team’s journey and what this opportunity means to them. “I am so proud of my team and our accomplishments up to this point. With our advantage of being the #1 seed in D-2 playoffs, I am looking forward to hopefully bringing home the State Championship title,” she said.

Another senior, Eliya Dev, shared her excitement and determination as the team looks ahead to postseason play. “I am super excited to begin a new journey in playoffs—to focus, to fight, and finish the season with no regrets,” Dev said.

Principal Leandrea Slayton praised the team’s resilience and growth throughout the season. “This team has demonstrated resiliency all season and has applied the lessons along the way to sharpen their play, their mindset, and their collective commitment to put the team above self. I am so proud of them. Let’s do this!”

With the playoffs approaching, the Liberty community stands united behind the Patriots as they prepare to make their run at the state title. Their journey has already been one of excellence, perseverance, and heart—and now, with home court advantage, they’re ready to chase the ultimate goal: bringing a State Championship back to Bakersfield.
