During the morning session, students shadowed city officials, learning firsthand about the decision-making processes and responsibilities that keep the city running. The afternoon featured an awards luncheon where honorees were recognized for their academic excellence, leadership, and dedication to service.
Representing Liberty High School, four outstanding students were honored for their achievements:
Robert Clegg – Scholarship
Jillian Bean – Leadership
Reagan Young – School and Community Service
Keen Nguyen – Glendon Rogers Award
The Glendon Rogers Award, Teen City Government Day’s highest distinction, honors a student who exemplifies excellence in all three areas—scholarship, leadership, and community service. Liberty’s own Keen Nguyen earned this prestigious recognition for his commitment to excellence and service to others.
Teen City Government Day continues to inspire Bakersfield’s next generation of civic leaders, helping students bridge classroom learning with real-world leadership and community engagement.
