E-Sports Returns to Liberty High — A Winning Comeback!

This season, Liberty fields both Varsity and Junior Varsity (JV) teams. The Varsity squad is currently undefeated with a 4–0 record, while the JV team holds an impressive 3–1 record. With 10 active players this season, the program has built a strong foundation for continued success and growth.

Matches take place every Wednesday after school, filling the E-Sports lab with energy, teamwork, and strategy. Players practice regularly to refine their communication and decision-making, skills that translate far beyond the digital arena.

Coach Watson shared his pride in the team’s growth and focus, saying:

“Our players are learning fast, collaborating well, and competing with real composure. Esports gives them a place to lead, think under pressure, and represent Liberty with pride. It's incredible to see how skilled they are in their matches against the other schools in the district, and I can't wait to see more of their growth from now until the end of the season!"

As the season continues, Liberty’s E-Sports program is not just about gaming, it’s about teamwork, leadership, and creating a sense of belonging for every student.

Principal Leandrea Slayton also expressed excitement about the program’s impact:

“E-Sports has become a major platform nationwide and provides opportunities for students to earn college scholarships. Gaming has often been seen as just a pastime hobby, but it has evolved into a legitimate team sport that teaches students teamwork, collaboration, and commitment. I love that we have E-Sports back at Liberty, it’s helping even more students find their thing and a place to belong.”

With the guidance of Coaches Watson and Alias, the Patriots are proving that success comes from strategy, passion, and perseverance.

Congratulations to both teams on a fantastic start — Go Liberty!
