On Thursday evening before the big game, the Mini Pats joined their spirit partners for a fun-filled practice where they learned cheers and a halftime dance routine. The excitement was contagious as both the young participants and the high school leaders prepared to perform under the Friday night lights.
During the first half of the game, the crowd was treated to an energetic and heartwarming performance that showcased the joy, teamwork, and Patriot pride that defines Liberty. The smiles on the Mini Pats’ faces were just as bright as those of the Spirit Team members beside them. Many of the current Liberty Spirit athletes fondly remembered their own days as Mini Pats, making the night even more meaningful.
One of the Spirit coaches, Lauren Sheeran, brought the tradition full circle. She once participated as a Mini Pat, later cheered as a Liberty Spirit member, and this year returned as both a coach and a proud mom watching her daughter perform.
Lauren Sheeran reflected on the experience, saying:
“It’s such a full circle moment to be able to say I’ve now been a part of Mini Pats as a cheerleader, a coach, and now a parent! And that’s why this event is an amazing representation of how ‘The Patriot Way’ is passed down through generations!”
Another Spirit Team coach Haleigh Earls shared a similar sentiment about the legacy of the event:
“I love how we have so many Spirit Team members that were once Mini Pats! It’s so special to watch it come full circle as the years pass. And it gives them a chance to give the Minis one of the most fun nights of their year! It’s really indicative of Liberty’s legacy.”
Adding to that sense of continuity, Lovie Peel reflected on her own memories:
“I was really young when I did Mini Pats (over a decade ago!!!), but I still remember cheering ‘Go Big Blue’ and feeling so special for being able to stand on another cheerleader’s box. I hope that my Mini Pats feel the same when they are older.”
The annual Mini Pats event continues to be a beloved Liberty tradition—celebrating community, mentorship, and the lasting impact of school spirit across generations.
