Liberty High’s Just Serve Club Makes an Impact at “Save a Life” Event

What made this act of service even more remarkable is that all 38 students showed up without being invited. Advisor Michelle Lord simply instructed them to find a way to serve, and what they chose to do was completely self-initiated. It was an act born from a true servant’s heart.

Even before receiving official instructions, the students jumped right in, finding meaningful ways to help. Some distributed water bottles, others handed out colorful beads, each color symbolizing an important message of hope and remembrance. Many took the initiative to clean up the park, collect boxes, and circulate with cool waters to refresh participants.

Perhaps the most touching moment came when students formed a line to cheer on teams walking in memory of loved ones lost to suicide. Their encouragement created a warm, uplifting atmosphere that deeply moved participants and organizers alike. One organizer’s husband even shared, “We could not have done this event without your students’ help!”

At the end of the day, the Just Serve students stayed to fold tables and chairs and pack up the entire venue, a testament to their character and commitment. Twice during the event, Liberty High’s Just Serve members received special shout-outs from organizers, recognizing their tremendous contribution.

Their actions reminded everyone that service builds hope and community, and that Liberty High students truly live out our core values of compassion, initiative, and belonging.
