A hallmark of this event each year is the moment when a child in the community who is battling cancer is honored, putting a face to the fight and reminding everyone in attendance what this cause is all about. These young warriors and their families inspire everyone around them with their resilience and hope.
In 2016, Lucas Tate was invited to attend the Golden Games as one of those young honorees. On Thursday night, Lucas returned to that same tradition, now a junior Patriot and cancer survivor, to help present the check for $590 representing Liberty’s fundraising efforts for childhood cancer research.
While the volleyball showdown with Frontier delivered plenty of excitement, the true victory of the night was the generosity and unity shown by the Patriot community.
