Sixteen Liberty students participated in the annual Advanced Placement Statistics and Advanced Placement Calculus contests at Independence High School this past Wednesday. The contests are a simulated Advanced Placement exam for each subject.
Liberty’s top statistics team, made up of the four highest individual scores, took third place overall for statistics. Team members were Evelyn Orozco, Marco Magana, Preston Riley and Zoey Stafford. Preston Riley also had the top individual score for statistics. Other statistics students representing Liberty were Sophia Harlan, Shelbie Porter, Paisley Starman and Jonathan Lo.
In the calculus competition, Liberty had two teams that placed in the top five. The team made up of Liangxue Chen, Kylie Peck, Michael Vagliarsky, and Jaden Lee took second place overall. The LHS team made up of Brooke Tallon, Piheng Chen, Keen Nguyen, and Victor Peel took fourth place overall. In the calculus contest, Kylie Peck had Liberty’s top individual score and took fourth place in the overall individual event.
Local schools and even schools from the coast, including Arroyo Grande High School and San Luis Obispo High School, participated in this event.
