Field Trip to UCSB and Westmont

UCSB offered a one-hour campus tour that included a variety of sites on campus with a tour guide who could answer questions about university costs, majors, and class sizes.  Students and parents were also able to take a one-hour self-tour around campus. Parents and students could grab lunch at the UCSB food court and shop for UCSB merchandise in the student store.

“Some went to learn more about certain majors and ask students questions about their classes,” Mrs. Cavazos said. “Many went to see the lagoon located in the middle of campus and took their time visiting and exploring the campus.”

Westmont College is a private Christian college located in the mountains of Montecito. Students and adults took a 90-minute tour learning about the history of the school, which is a Division 2 athletics school, and that offers on-campus living for all four years.

Mrs. Cavazos said the trip was a success for parents and students. “One mother was thankful because this is the first of her children getting ready to go to college,” she said. “She wanted to have her daughter see that there is more out there than only Bakersfield College and Cal State Bakersfield.”
