Patriot Family,
FFA hosted its first National FFA Week, complete with daily lunchtime activities that brought energy to our campus. Each day was thoughtfully planned and provided students with a fun and meaningful experience. However, I believe both staff and students would agree that Thursday’s petting zoo was the highlight of the week. There is simply nothing like seeing a miniature pony wearing a unicorn hat on campus to make the day feel extra special.
On Friday morning, FFA hosted a staff breakfast, and Mrs. Miller organized students to write personalized notes of appreciation to every staff member. It was a heartfelt gesture that truly reflects the culture of gratitude at Liberty.
In athletics, I was so proud to see the incredible turnout at Mira Monte on Wednesday night to support our boys soccer team in the Section Finals. I could not be more proud of how our team competed from whistle to whistle. Losing a close 0 - 1 game played with that much heart can feel painful, but our coaches and players have so much to be proud of. The journey continues as they prepare for the program’s first-ever state playoff game this week which is an exciting milestone for Liberty Boys Soccer.
I am also incredibly proud of our state wrestlers and all they accomplished this season. Several athletes overcame significant adversity to compete at the highest level in California. Their perseverance and resilience represent the very best of Liberty.
As you will read in the article below, we also have much to celebrate academically. Robert Clegg is a Central Section Champion in Congress Debate and has qualified for the State competition. In addition, three of our robotics teams have qualified for state on March 14th.
Finally, I am looking forward to welcoming the Class of 2030 to campus this Thursday for Family Academic Information Night. It is always exciting to begin building relationships with our future Patriots and their families.
Your partner in learning and growing,
Leandrea Slayton
Principal

Liberty Students Lead, Learn, and Inspire at the Max Capacity Connection Conference
This past week, Liberty students had the incredible opportunity to represent our campus at the Kern High School District Max Capacity Connection Conference. The conference brought together students from across the district to share ideas, learn from one another, and explore meaningful ways to make a greater impact on their campuses.
Liberty was proud to present on our Listening Circles initiative, sharing both the “why” and the “how” behind this powerful practice. Listening Circles create intentional space for students who may not typically interact to come together, build understanding, and truly hear one another’s perspectives. Through guided discussion, students not only share their experiences but also collaborate on the vision they want to see lived out on our campus. Our team highlighted how Listening Circles foster empathy, strengthen relationships, and build a culture rooted in respect and unity.
