Patriot Family,
This week gave us so much to celebrate, beginning with Counselor Appreciation Week. I want to extend my deepest thanks to our incredible counseling team: Jennifer Ayres, Sylvia Morales, Cecilia Racicot, Heather Graham, Kerri Ussery, and Ryane Poulton. Our counselors go above and beyond every day to support students academically, socially, and emotionally, and our school is stronger because of their dedication, care, and commitment to kids.
I was also incredibly impressed with our We the People team under the leadership of Brooke Richter. Their hard work, preparation, and professionalism were on full display, and they represented Liberty with excellence. A special shout out as well to our Speech and Debate students, Ali Bulford, Izabela Miranda, and Aubree Gearhart, who competed in the state qualifier this past weekend. Their confidence, critical thinking, and poise make us proud.
Congratulations are also in order for our Academic Decathlon team, who finished in first place in the Super Quiz competition, with students earning medals across several other categories. This talented team continues to shine, and we look forward to sharing more about their accomplishments next week.
As we move into the coming days, we are excited to begin playoffs for our winter sports teams. Once seeding information is released, we will be sure to share it with our community. We are also looking forward to Family Paint Night tomorrow evening and hope to see many of you there.
Thank you for your continued support of Liberty High School and for celebrating our students and staff alongside us.
Your partner in learning and growing, Leandrea Slayton Principal

School Accountability Report Card
Liberty’s updated School Accountability Report Card (SARC) has been uploaded to the Liberty website. Parents and community members may review the report digitally by visiting our website and clicking on "About Us" then on "SARC". If you prefer a printed copy, hard copies are available upon request in the Liberty front office during regular school hours.
The SARC provides important information about our school’s programs, student achievement, campus safety, and overall progress. We encourage all families to review this annual report to stay informed about Liberty’s continued growth and commitment to excellence.
Please contact the front office if you have any questions.

Liberty We the People Competes at State Level in Sacramento
This past weekend, twenty-two students from Liberty High School’s We the People team traveled to Sacramento to compete in the California State We the People Congressional Hearings Competition. Liberty was one of only eight schools statewide to qualify for the state competition, a notable accomplishment made even more impressive by the fact that Kern County is widely regarded as one of the toughest regional competitions in California. Joining Liberty from the local area were Centennial and Arvin High Schools, with additional competitors representing Monterey, Amador Valley, Foothill (Pleasanton), Arcadia, and Tennyson High Schools.

Liberty Mock Trial Wraps Up an Outstanding Season of Learning and Competition
The Liberty Mock Trial team concluded an impressive season that showcased some of the very best examples of project-based learning in action. Mock Trial is an academic competition that immerses students in the legal process, requiring them to analyze a case from multiple perspectives while developing skills in critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and professional conduct. Students learn courtroom procedures, legal terminology, case analysis, and public speaking, while witnesses bring an element of theatre and storytelling to the courtroom experience. From attorneys to witnesses, journalists, and even a courtroom artist, every role contributes to the success of the team.
