Dear Parents of Class of 2028,
Tomorrow is Freshman Orientation! We are excited to welcome your incoming 9th grader to the Patriot Family! Please plan on joining us for Freshman Fling and Parent Orientation tomorrow Thursday, August 8 @ 9am.
Students will gather in the gym at 9am and parents will meet in the Performing Arts Center. Your student will receive their class schedule and ID card, tour the campus, and connect with classmates and Link Crew leaders.
NOTE: After the parent orientation, which will last about 40 minutes, parents can visit the parent center and sign up for Synergy Parent VUE, purchase PE clothes at the student store next to the gym (cash or check), and purchase an ASB Sticker for your student at the finance office ($50 via card, cash, or check).

Each of these stories and calendar events can be found on our website.

PE Clothes
Students start dressing out for PE on Monday, August 26. There are multiple opportunities to purchase PE clothes with cash or check including during PE class this week. Parents can check in at the office and visit the student store from 9am-10am on Monday - Thursday when school is in session. Students can purchase PE clothes at lunch or will have an opportunity to visit the student store during their P.E. class.

ASB Stickers (Buy Online or at Finance Office)
An ASB sticker attaches to a student ID card and provides free admission for the student to all Kern High athletic events (except playoffs). It also provides discounts to school events such as Formal and Prom. Buy it now to get into all our volleyball, football, and basketball games for free. Students or parents can purhcase the sticker online or at the Finance Office.

Bell Schedules and Early Outs
The 2024-2025 bell schedule is the same as last year and can be found on our website under “Resources” or in this news story. School starts every day at 8:30am. On most days school ends at 3:23. However, every Monday is a 1-hour early out and we have a few other 2-hour holiday early outs before Thanksgiving break, Spring break, and Memorial Day weekend. In addition, we have six days of finals, three each semester, where school ends early each day.

ParentVUE App Allows Parents to View Grades
The Synergy ParentVUE app allows parents to monitor their student's grades and attendance. If you have your student's 6 digit UID (student number) and birthdate you can set up your account remotely. In addition, Mrs. Cavazos in the parent center can also help you in person, over the phone, or via email.

Link to Your Student's Canvas as a Parent Observer
Canvas is a Learning Management System that many teachers use to post assignments, collect assignments, and display grades. It is also a great location for students who are absent to find out what they missed. Parents can access their student's classes via Canvas to see the same information students see: announcements, assignments, and graded assignments.
