Liberty junior Dakota Ochoa finished up the last regular season with his best round in hopes that it continues into a positive final few weeks.
Ochoa shot a 3-under-par 68 at Stockdale Country Club on April 30 to lead the field in the final Southwest Yosemite League meet and will be part of the first threesome at the Central Section South Area boys golf championships at Buena Vista Golf Course on Monday beginning with a modified shotgun start at 11 a.m.
Ochoa led the SWYL with a 72.29 round average during league play and will be joined by Garces junior Maverick Pavletich (73.43) and Taft senior Clayson Sorensen.
Along with the top threesome, other golfers who averaged rounds in the 70s this season are: Dheer Patel (Stockdale), Adam Duncan (Liberty), Nick Pruitt (Frontier), Madhav Raja (Highland) and Blake Keesey (Tehachapi).
The team races will be just as competitive after Frontier edged out Stockdale, Garces and Liberty by just eight season point totals for the SWYL title.
The top three teams and top 10 individuals on Monday will advance to the Central Section championships on May 14 at River Island Country Club in Porterville.
