Talented Art Students Display Their Work At Art Show

Walking through the library last Wednesday evening looking at the samples of impressive artwork by Liberty students brought tears to one mom’s eyes. Students proudly showed their parents and family members projects they have been working on.

Principal Leandrea Slayton commented on the sense of community amongst the students: “I had popped into Mrs. Galicia’s advanced art class a couple of weeks ago and listened as the students shared with their colleagues what they were working on and in a spirit of collaboration they gave feedback about what they liked and suggestions on where to go next. It was fun to see the finished products of some of the work they had commented on.”

Talented art students have an opportunity to take Advanced Placement Art to earn college credit if they pass the AP critique. AP Art is different from most AP exams. Rather than taking a test in May that measures their knowledge, through the year of the course, they complete a themed portfolio which includes different mediums of art and a narrative on each piece.
