The Parent Institute for Quality Education (PIQE) is offering an eight-week social-emotional learning program at Liberty on Wednesday evenings to help families “develop skills to understand and enhance their student’s emotional intelligence and learn about its impact on academic success.”
The first class in the series was held last Wednesday. However, there are seven more weeks of classes that parents are welcome to attend beginning with the second meeting, at 6 p.m. this Wednesday, Jan. 22, in the Liberty Library Commons. The sessions run from 6 p.m. to approximately 7:30 p.m.
The course is open to all parents of LHS students and is offered in both English and Spanish.
PIQE is a nationwide program offered to parents, and this session is one of several workshops the company offers. This session emphasizes social-emotional learning, which focuses on helping parents help their children recognize and cope with their emotions, boost self-confidence, and learn responsible decision-making. There will be several speakers throughout the session. This is the first year a PIQE program has been offered at Liberty.
