Tickets are $10 general admission and will be available at the door. The play is adapted from the 2006 novel by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson and is a prequel to J.M. Barrie’s Peter and Wendy. The play upends the century-old story of how a miserable orphan -- Peter Pan -- became “the boy who would never grow up.”
Long before the Darling children flew with Peter Pan and Tinkerbell to the “second star to the right, and straight on till morning” … an apprentice Starcatcher named Molly, a nameless boy and his orphan friends, and a pirate named Black Stache and his crew set sail on an “awfully big adventure.” Follow them on their high seas adventure from perilous pirate pillaging to amazing adventures on a faraway island. Enjoy a mix of historical facts, the fictional world of Neverland, and modern pop culture references in this uniquely imaginative Play with Music. Peter and the Starcatcher is a chance to allow your imagination to FLY!
These are the first official performances under the new lights in the PAC. According to Tom Ryan, Kern High School District Electrician, the new, energy efficient LED lights replace the original lighting from when Liberty opened in 1999. The new LED lights are “much more efficient and look better,” Mr. Ryan said.
There are other improvements in the lighting, as well. “The new theater lights can change colors from the light board remotely, vs. changing color manually on a lift,” Mr. Ryan said. “The new stage lights will zoom in and out from the control board.”
Additionally, the new system enables staff to record different lighting “looks” for different events operable with the push of one button. The new lighting and control board is similar to what our students will see in college and professional theaters when they graduate from Liberty.
