Patriots Participate in Via Arte

Artists have created chalk masterpieces in the parking lot of The Marketplace each fall since 1998, in the festival hosted by the Bakersfield Museum of Art. According to Liberty art teacher Sarah Hahn, the LHS students participating are AP Studio Art students, advanced art students and a few Art Club participants. Passersby and shoppers are able to observe the paintings created by dozens of artists as they gradually take form over the two-day festival.

The Courbet painting is a self portrait done by the French artist completed in1845 that shows a man tearing at his hair, eyes wide open, staring wildly at the observer. The following Liberty students participated: Scarlett Doyle, Faith Curry, Promessa Chaparro, Lauren Williams, Janay Perkins, and Ashley White.
